The Mothae kimberlite project in the Kingdom of Lesotho, in which Lucara Diamond Corporation holds a 75% interest through its Mothae Diamonds subsidiary, continues to yield excellent sampling results, the company reports.
Sample G2A, completed in early May, produced 1,903.15 carats of rough diamonds with an average stone size of 0.45 carats/stone from 33,691 dry tons of kimberlite for a sample grade of 5.65 carats per hundred tonnes (cpht).
G2A produced one diamond greater than 20 carats and 3 diamonds between 10 and 20 carats, as well as 93 diamonds between 2 and 10 carats. The three largest diamonds recovered from the sample weighed 41.38, 19.35 and 12.63 carats.
Lucara President and CEO William Lamb commented, "We are pleased to see the increase in diamond grade… We also continue to be pleased with the continued recovery of large stones and look forward to our next diamond sale in Q4 of this year."
