Rockwell Diamonds has committed to launching a full investigation into an accident that led to the death of a worker at its Tirisano diamond mine in South Africa's North West Province on June 17.



The diamond company issued a statement stressing its commitment to the "highest safety standards at each of its operations and regrets that these efforts did not prevent this incident."



Following the accident, all operations at Tirisano were immediately suspended and the company notified the Department of Mineral Resources' Mine, Health, and Safety inspectorate.



"We are deeply saddened by this terrible loss and our thoughts are with the employee's family and the local Magopa community," said Rockwell Diamonds CEO James Campbell. "We will provide whatever support we can to help them through this very difficult time."
