First, I would like to send my congratulations upon the successful convocation of Element Six ‘Developments in Industrial Diamond’ seminar and the establishment of Element Six Shanghai Office! And thanks for your company’s kind invitation!

Element Six's research and development in the field of industrial diamond has always been at the forefront in the world and made significant contributions to the development of world industrial diamond industry. I express my deep admiration and respect for the innovative spirit of Element Six here.

And I take this opportunity to give a brief introduction to the industrial diamonds development in China. China developed the industrial diamonds successfully in 1963, and started production with the synthesis technology of hinged cubic press in 1965. After forty years development, especially the rapid progress in 30 years of reform and opening-up, not only does the enlargement and programmed control of cubic press develop rapidly, but the press structure and manufacture accuracy are also improved substantially.

In addition, the power catalyst synthesis process is popularized and applied; and the press cylinder diameter has developed from the original φ230mm to φ650mm, φ750mm, φ800mm, φ1000mm at present. Synthetic test stick diameter reaches φ40mm, φ55mm, with the maximum φ68mm; the average output per run is 200 to 300 carats, with the maximum 800 carats; top level output ratio is also greatly improved; and 2.4mm ~ 2.6mm gem-grade diamonds can be mass-produced

This year is the first year of the "Twelfth Five-year" plan for Chinese national economic and social development, and the state actively fosters and develops the strategic new industries. The new generation of information technology, energy saving and environment protection, new energy, biotechnology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy vehicle industries are positively and orderly developed; while the seven strategic new industries are all associated with super-hard materials and products; in addition, the super-hard materials and products will be included in the new materials industries

Therefore, the "Twelfth Five-year" China is the period with best strategic opportunities for the high speed development of super-hard materials and products industry in China and in the world.

Let us strengthen the information exchange in industrial diamond technology and promote the development of world diamond industry and application industry.
