Indian fine jewelry retailer Tanishq recently launched a diamond purity check campaign at Tanishq outlets in 10 different cities including Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi, Kolkata and other cities which are major gold and diamonds markets. The company reports that the campaign, which was launched on May 16, has so far assessed the purity of more than 12,000 items and issued HRD Antwerp diamond certificates.
The renowned fine jewelry retailer Tanishq has announced plans to expand the majority of its 117 outlets in 75 cities due to the company’s anticipation of increased gold and diamond jewelry sales in India despite the slowdown.
Business Standard quotes Tanishq brand manager Calvin John: “The economic slowdown has not hit the jewelry market in India the way it has hit other markets. All our stores have maintained their sales figures and some have also increased revenue. This year, we will add more retail space to our stores to offer more variety of fine jewelry products.”
John noted that due to the sluggish market, Tanishq is not planning to open new jewelry stores on a larger scale. However, it does plan to open four new fine jewelry outlets in the near future.
John added: “While western and northern regions contribute a larger revenue chunk for Tanishq, the firm is taking a safe approach towards expansion. Addition of retail space will boost jewelry sales with lesser input costs. This will help us increase profit margins.”
