About 10 million euros worth of fine jewelry and watches were stolen from a Chopard luxury jewelry store in the center of Paris on Saturday as a lone gunman entered the store and politely asked for the loot.
The man, said to be in his 50s, was dressed in a fashionable suit and a fedora hat resembling film icon Humphrey Bogart.
According to witnesses, the man entered the store, located on Place Vendome not far from the French Justice Ministry, during the afternoon hours of Saturday. The witnesses said the man "politely" asked the clerks to place a number of high-end watches and fine pieces of jewelry in a bag and swiftly walked away.
Paris has recently witnessed a rise in the number of jewelry heists as 85 million euros worth of jewelry were stolen from a Harry Winston luxury jewelry store in Paris last December.
