The diamond industry of South Africa is mourning the death of Louis Selekane, CEO of the South African Diamond and Precious Metals Regulator (SADPMR), who tragically passed away Saturday in a car accident. Selekane was traveling home to Midrand.

“Louis made a significant contribution to the development of both the diamond and jewelry industries and will be deeply missed,” said Ernie Blom, chairman of the Diamond Council and Diamond Dealers Club of South Africa. “He was a friend to all; his willingness to assist where necessary was legendry as well as his friendly disposition. The void he left behind will be difficult to fill.”

Blom expressed his sincere condolences to Selekane’s family, friends and colleagues.
