Ukrainian industry is on a roll, growing 8.7 percent year-on-year in the first half of 2011, according to an official report released Thursday by the State Statistic Service.
The mining industry saw a growth of 5.7 percent in the period, while the electric power, gas and water industry rose 7 percent, and manufacturing 9.9 percent, the report showed.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials said the country's economy was in good shape and that by the end of 2011, it would resume its pre-crisis level.
Some local economists argued, however, that it might be too early to say the economy has recovered because the high growth rate was registered on the basis of last year's bad performance.
