Turkish steel import value up by 29pct in June

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in June this year Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled USD 1.76 billion increasing by 29.2% YoY and up 11.2% over May while imports of articles of iron or steel rose by 17.1% compared to May 2010 and were down 3.03% MoM amounting to USD 217.80 million.
Meanwhile, in the H1 of 2011 the country's iron and steel imports stood at USD 9.7 billion while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to USD 1.26 billion increasing by 24.2% and up 40.6% respectively both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
