JSW Steel crude steel output jumps 15% to 5.99 lt July Y-O-Y

JSW Steel Limited has reported Crude Steel production of 5.99 lakh tons, with a growth of 15% for July’2011 compared to that of corresponding month in the last fiscal year.
The company registered crude steel production growth rate of 15% at 5.99 lakh tons, flat rolled products production growth rate of 3% at 4.24 lakh tons and long rolled products growth rate of 24% at 1.14 lakh tons.
During the month the company commenced its Blast Furnace-4 and Sinter Plant-4 as a part of 3.2 MTPA expansion project at Vijayanagar Works on 20th July 2011 and these units are under trial run.
In view of the suspension of mining and transportation of Iron Ore in Bellary district by the Honorable Supreme Court of India vide its order dt. 29/07/2011, the company had to cut its production by about 35% due to shortage of Iron ore.
The production in July 2011, would have been higher had the suspension and transportation of mining of Iron ore not been there. However, following the Honorable Supreme Court order dt. 05/08/2011 permitting NMDC to mine up to 1 million tons per month, the company restored the production to 80% of installed capacity.
