Meller Microlux Alumina Abrasive Powders can produce surface finishes to 10-5 scratch-dig on calcium fluoride, ferrites, germanium, silicon, stainless steel, zinc selenide, and zinc sulfide. Featuring seven particle sizes from 0.05 to 3.0 um, these high purity calcined alumina abrasive powders are a low cost alternative to diamond abrasives, claims the firm. Ready to mix with deionized water, the powders are offered in two grades: Microlux-R for aggressive grinding and lapping, which is 99.98% pure, with large agglomerated particles that break down under pressure for final polishing, and Microlux-RZ which is 99.99% pure and has controlled particle sizes for fine grinding and uniform polishing.
