Peregrine Diamonds has discovered a third kimberlite at its 100 percent-owned, 4,370-kilometer Qilaq project on Baffin Island, Nunavut, Canada, the company reports.
Qilaq is located on Hall Peninsula, northeast of Iqaluit. Kimberlite chip samples collected from the Q3 and Q1 kimberlites are being sent to the Saskatchewan Research Council for diamond analysis.
Two diamondiferous kimberlites were discovered at Qilaq in 2010, sparking plans to conduct a geophysical survey of the site from the air. In February 2011, the company announced its exploration plans for 2011, noting that Qilaq had been identified as containing "strong potential" for metals, including gold, in addition to diamonds.
Qilaq borders Peregrine Diamonds' Chidliak project.
