Residents in the south end of Suwannee County are concerned about the possibility of a limerock mining quarry that may be built near the Beachville community.
A company wishing to mine about 123 acres near 256th Street and SR 247 went before the county zoning board last week to discuss the use of the land.
Tom Matthews lives next to the proposed mining site and said he is worried about his property value and what effect the proposed quarry might have on the aquifer and bodies of water in the area.
A public hearing will be held at the June 16 county commission meeting to discuss the matter. It is scheduled for 7 p.m. at City Hall in Live Oak.
