Canada's Crossworks Manufacturing is building a diamond promotion center adjacent to its diamond polishing plant in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – the "Diamond Capital" of Canda, CBC reports.
Crossworks President Uri Ariel, speaking at a press conference, said that the visitors' center would also feature three exhibits on the three diamond mines operating in the NWT – the Diavik mine (Rio Tinto); the Snap Lake mine (De Beers); and the Ekati mine (BHP Billiton) – a diamond boutique, and a theater. It will also include step-by-step display of how NWT diamonds are produced, from mine to retail.
Ariel said that his company, which calls itself the biggest manufacturer of branded Canadian diamonds, wanted to celebrate the success of the NWT's diamond industry.
Local officials hope that the Crossworks center would bring welcome publicity to the local diamond polishing and manufacturing sector and attract tourists curious to see diamonds.
