An antique 1.5 carat diamond ring has been found in a sewer pipe in Victoria, British Columbia, CTV News reports.
Municipal truck driver Rick Brown found the ring, which is inscribed with six initials and the date March 1939, while digging through a pile of sludge. Brown took the ring to a jeweler to confirm that the diamonds were genuine, and told CTV that even if the original owners were dead, he'd like to return it to their family.
Brown has found other historical artifacts in the city's drains, including 19th-century coins, rings dating back more than 300 years, and a World War I medal that he returned to its owner.
