The SGL Group – The Carbon Company – today announces the following graphite electrode prices, with immediate effect and valid until further notice:

Europe:

* Regular-size Graphite Electrodes: 5200 €/mt

* Extra-size Graphite Electrodes: 5430 €/mt

Americas, Asia (excluding China*), Near Middle East and Africa:

*Regular-size Graphite Electrodes: 7300 US-$/mt (3.31 US-$/lb)

*Extra-size Graphite Electrodes: 7600 US-$/mt (3,45 US-$/lb)

Regular-sized is defined as: diameter 14" (350 mm) – 24" (600 mm)

Extra-sized is defined as: diameter 26" (650 mm) – 32" (800 mm)

These prices will be valid for all new orders that ship before December 31, 2012.

These new prices reflect the dynamics for raw materials and energy. Supply and demand balances for these inputs are rapidly trending towards a significant tightening of availability.

*Pricing in China is the sole responsibility of the joint venture between the SGL Group and Tokai in Shang-hai (STS).
