Ukraine increases crude steel production in Jan to Aug

According to the preliminary data, in the first eight months of 2011 Ukraine registered a 5.6% growth YoY in its finished steel product output to 20.334 million tonnes an increase of 8.4% increase in its crude steel output to 23.153 million tonnes and a 6% rise in its pig iron production to 19.107 million tonnes.
The country's production of metallurgical coke went up by 6.7%YoY to 13.026 million tonnes during the first eight months of 2011. In January to August 2011, Ukraine produced 43.576 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate and 52.783 million tonnes of iron ore up 2.3%YoY and 3.0%YoY.
In August alone, Ukraine produced 2.529 million tonnes of finished steel products up by 4.6%, 2.990 million tonnes of crude steel up by 8.3%, 2.537 million tonnes of pig iron up by 8.9%. In August, Ukraine production of coke increased by 5.6% compared to July rising to 1.657 million tonnes.
