The local government in the in South Africa has announced it will seek to open a jewelry and diamond academy in the diamond mining region of Kimberley in the Northern Cape, Mining Weekly reported.

The Northern Cape Department of Economic Affairs has also issued a tender for companies to provide the new academy with diamond polishing and cutting equipment

An official from the Northern Cape Department of Economic Affairs told Mining Weekly that their intention was to open the academy as soon as possible.
