Angola Polishing Diamonds (APD), a government-owned diamond cutting company, plans to open a jewelry boutique in Luanda, APD Managing Director Miguel Bondo Junior has told the ANGOP news agency.
Bondo said that selling the company’s diamonds set in jewelry would help establish the country’s nascent jewelry industry.
ADP was founded six years ago and has the capacity to cut $20 million of rough diamonds per month. ADP exports its polished diamonds throughout the world via the Sodiam diamond marketing concern, which is 99% owned by Endiama, the joint diamond production venture between the Angolan government and De Beers.
