October 21 – Output from China's chemical industry grew 15.2% in the first three quarters from a year earlier, 1.4 percentage points slower than in the same period a year ago, according to the National Development and Reform Commission..
October 18 – China's industrial output grew 13.8% in September from a year earlier, where light industrial output was up 12.8% and heavy industrial output was up 14.3%, the National Bureau of Statistics said. In September, electricity generation was up 11.5% year on year to 386.1 billion kW hours; cement output was up 15.7% year on year to 190.31 million tons; steel output was up 18.8% year on year to 76.36 million tons.
October 12 – China's cellphone production grew 19.3% year on year to 699.2 million in the first eight months of this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The value of telecommunications devices made over the period was up 23.9% to ¥682.7 billion, including ¥335.9 billion worth of goods for exports.
September 30 – China's manufacturing sector shrank for a third straight month in September, marking the longest contraction streak since 2009 as HSBC's producers manager index for September read 49.9, up 0.5 points from forecast but still below the 50 critical point.
September 28 – Growth of China's production and consumption of crude steel will slow between 2% and 7% during the five years through 2015, predicted Li Shijun, chief analyst with the China Iron & Steel Association.
September 27 – China's industrial profit expanded 28.2% year on year to ¥3.22 trillion in the first eight months of 2011, the National Bureau of Statistics said. Earnings by state-owned companies were up 20.6% to ¥1.02 trillion; earnings by privately-owned companies were up 45.6% to ¥887.1 billion; earnings by foreign companies were up 14.4% to ¥843.1 billion. The figures were based on the businesses that report at least ¥20 million in revenues a year.
September 27 – China has 40 million people, or 20% of the total workforce of the secondary industry, engaged in labor-intensive export processing, according to the China Chamber of Commerce.
September 23 – Output from China's pharmaceutical industry grew 29.6% year on year to ¥802.4 billion in the first seven months of 2011, the National Development and Reform Commission said. Bilaterial pharmaceutical trade climbed 40.1% to $40.99 billion during the period, where exports were up 36.6% to $25.31 billion and imports were up 46.1% to $15.68 billion.
September 20 – Total investment in Chinese marine engineering equipment manufacturing is expected to range between ¥250 billion to ¥300 billion over the next four years, according to an industry report by the National Development and Reform Commission.
September 14 – China's electronics manufacturing sector saw its profit fall 1.5% to ¥102.6 billion for the seven months through July 2011, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. The value of electronics exports was up 14.4% to ¥2.09 trillion over the period, or 37.4% of all industrial exports.
September 13 – China's industrial output was up 13.5% from a year earlier in August, with heavy industry output up 13.5% and light industry output up 13.4%, the National Bureau of Statistics said. Power generation rose 10% year on year to 426 billion kW hours in August.
