Taipei, Nov. 8, 2011 (CENS)--The 2012 Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS 2012), to be staged Nov. 7-11 in Taichung City, central Taiwan and organized by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), will attract over 400 exhibitors, despite the uncertain global economy, said TMBA chairman Eric Y.T. Chuo, who said 296 firms have booked over 2,000 booths so far.
Debuted in 2010 and praised by global buyers for being close to the hub of the industry, TMTS attracted 300 exhibitors across 1,300 booths that year, of which 84% were domestic and 16% from abroad, with 51,000 buyers from 41 nations having visited the event.
Chuo predicts the domestic machine-tool industry to rapidly recover in the second quarter of next year, despite a slowdown in orders in the fourth quarter of this year; while domestic manufacturers of machinery components are still receiving orders diverted from Japan after the March 11 massive earthquake.
The Taichung area is widely seen as an important manufacturing hub for the machine-tool industry, where some 90% of the over 1,400 manufacturers of machine tools and accessories in Taiwan are clustered, said Chuo.
TMTS 2012 will see the booth number double that of the 2010 event to exceed 3,000, with 58,000 visitors expected, including 2,000 international buyers, predicts Chuo.
The organizer says many domestic firms have booked booths, including Hiwin Technologies Corp., Taiwan Takisawa Technology Co., AirTac Co., Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Shieh Yih Machinery Industry Co., Goodway Machine Corp., Awea Mechantronic Co. etc.
