The French police have arrested 25 suspects who are believed to have been involved in a $118 million jewelry heist last year at the Harry Winston luxury jewelry store near the Champs-Elysees. They have reportedly recovered some of the stolen high-end jewelry.
The armed gang, some of whom were dressed as women and wearing wigs, escaped with diamond rings, necklaces and luxury watches.
The heist was one of France's biggest jewelry robberies on record.
The robbers spoke a foreign language among themselves and seemed to know the names of the high-end jewelry store’s employees when they robbed the boutique during last year’s Christmas shopping season.
The Harry Winston luxury jewelry boutique was the site of a similar theft in October 2007, when employees were forced to open safes and hand over $12.66 million worth of luxury jewelry.
