The tile sealant plays a crucial role in the overall installation process. This viscous material becomes solid after sometime and prevents the penetration of air, dust, water, fire and smoke inside the tile surface. Hence, they maintain the life of the tiles.
The granite counter tops require regular sealing process. If the stone soaks the water present on the surface, then your granite tiles require re-application of sealants. You can seal the granite counter tops by the given below procedure.
1 Visit a local hardware store and purchase a sealer for your granite tiles. Make sure that the sealant is suitable for the counter top application.
2 Remove all the articles and utensils from the kitchen counter top. Now, clean the tile surface with a piece of cloth. Make sure that the dust particles and stains are completely removed. There shouldn't be any trace of air, dust, water or oil left on the surface.
3 Now, bring a stone cleaner and spread it on the granite tiles. Keep the solution on the counter top for 30 seconds. The cleaner soaks the stains and makes them removable. Now, clean the surface with a sponge and dry it with a piece of cloth.
4 Spread the sealant on the granite counter top with help of a fresh cloth or brush. Leave it on the surface for three to four minutes so that it can work accurately.
5 Let the sealants dry for few minutes. Now, apply one more layer of sealant on the dried granite counter top.
6 Keep on repeating the process for some time.
7 And lastly, let the granite tiles dry for sometime so that you can use them for day to day operations.
Hence, you can follow the simple procedures and maintain your granite tile counter tops. So, purchase granite sealants regularly and seal your tiles at least once in a year.
