Alliance, OH - Alliance Abrasives, Inc. has been purchased by BD Acquisitions from the Pittsburgh area and has already begun upgrading the 28,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and expanding its products and services.
“Alliance Abrasives LLC is moving ahead to become more of a full service abrasives company, expanding our standing as a manufacturer of sandpaper belts and discs,” says National Sales Manager Pete Donahue. “Upgrades have already been made with many of our processes with a great deal of concentration on our product quality and services, and future plans include opening a location in the Pittsburgh area,” he adds.
Larry Hunter began Alliance Abrasives Inc. in 1979 and the company has grown from servicing mainly “Mom and Pop” operations to providing abrasives for large catalog houses, distribution houses, and industrial manufacturers. Larry Hunter plans to remain with the company in an advisory and consultative role.
“Alliance Abrasives was built on having great relationships with our clients whether they buy only a couple times a year, or several times a week. We plan to continue that tradition,” says Donahue. “And we’re now in a position to be a lot more aggressive in the marketplace.
“We’re launching our new website at www.allianceabrasives.com and will have a lot of new directions eventually reflected in the site,” according to Donahue. “Our focus will be on providing very high quality sanding and polishing products made here at our Alliance facility, and giving our clients great customer service. This will include more of a concentration on a number of new lines like flap discs, cartridge rolls and other abrasive products our clients need.”
Prior to purchasing Alliance Abrasives, BD Acquisitions owned and operated Canfield Manufacturing providing lumber and plastic products to the steel industry. “Having BD Acquisitions on board gives us a lot of contacts within both the lumber and the steel industries,” says Production Manager Jerry Reed.
“We’re fairly strong in the wood, metal, and glass industries already,” says Reed, “but we’re gearing up our manufacturing to go after a bigger share of the business.”
